"Art Of Differentiation"

The knee joint, shown here in anterior view, is the largest and most superficial joint in the human body.
The bones articulating at the knee are the Femur, Tibia, Fibula and the sesamoid Patella (seen here at the center).
It is primarily a hinge synovial joint, allowing flexion and extension, combined with gliding, rolling and rotation.
The relationships between the bones alone provide no stability, and from this perspective - the knee is completely unstable. However, the knee is strengthened and stabilized by strong ligaments and surrounding muscles.
